ELD Community Fair

The English Language Development (ELD) Spring Family Gathering & Community Fair, organized by the Cumberland Valley School District, brought together multilingual families, students, educators, and community organizations for a day focused on connection, education, and support. This community-centered event created a welcoming environment where families could access valuable resources, engage with service providers, and learn about opportunities that promote both academic success and overall well-being.

The International Service Center (ISC) was proudly represented by:

ISC representatives actively engaged with attendees by sharing information about immigration services, language assistance, and refugee support programs. The team provided guidance tailored to diverse communities, including Afghan, Cuban, Haitian, Ukrainian, and other refugee populations in the region.

Their presence highlighted ISC’s ongoing commitment to supporting newcomers with dignity, respect, and culturally responsive services. During the event, families had access to a wide range of essential information and services, including:

– College Scholarships and Financial Aid Guidance on scholarships and financial support for higher education.

– Dual Enrollment & College Class Compensation Opportunities for high school students to take college-level courses with financial assistance.

– Summer Learning Programs

– Programs designed to keep students engaged and prepared for the upcoming academic year.

– Free ESL Classes for Adults English language programs supporting adult learners in improving communication skills and expanding career opportunities.

– Food Assistance (Food Banks) Access to local food resources for families in need.

– Migrant Education Program Academic and enrichment support for children of migrant families.

– Healthcare Services Information on preventive care and community-based health programs. Additional Community Support Services Resources related to housing assistance, employment support, and family services.

– Community Engagement and Collaboration

The event featured booths from numerous local organizations, creating opportunities for meaningful interaction and partnership building. ISC staff connected with service providers to explore collaborative efforts that can enhance support for refugee and immigrant clients. These partnerships will help expand referral networks in areas such as healthcare, education, and workforce development—ensuring clients have access to comprehensive and coordinated services.

Events like the ELD Spring Family Gathering & Community Fair demonstrate the power of community collaboration in creating equitable opportunities for all families. By bringing together essential resources in one place, the event helped participants better understand pathways for education, personal development, and community support. The International Service Center remains committed to outreach, education, and partnership-building, and looks forward to participating in future initiatives that strengthen and empower the communities we serve.
